Widespread, common
Wingspan: 34-48mm. Can be considerable variation in degree of speckling. Forewing can be creamy-buff in Irish and Scottish specimens.

Flight time: May-July
Habitat: Found in most urban and rural habitats

Larvae feed on herbaceous plants including nettles and docks
