Wingspan: 17-23mm. Hindwing has two dark tufts on trailing edge.

Flight time: July and September-May, hibernates through winter
Habitat: Gardens, hedgerows, cosatal areas

Larvae feed on range of herbaceous plants including Restharrow, Woundwort, crane's-bills and cultivated geraniums, Heather and mints.

Similar: A. punctidactyla is greyer and more speckled
