Locally common.
Wingspan: 27-32mm.

Flight time: December onwards, main flight time February-April
Habitat: Woodlands, also gardens, hedgerows, heathland

Larvae feed on wide range of broad-leaved trees and shrubs including Oak, Birch, Hazel and Hawthorn.

Similar: Scarce Umber and Mottled Umber
