Wingspan: 14-16mm. Can be variable, need rearing or gen.det
Flight time: June-July and September-October

Food plant: Birch, usually seedlings or suckers
Mine: May and July
Egg usually lower surface. A small corridor with red-brown frass is followed by a blotch mine between two veins, the frass at one end. The larva initially rolls or folds a leaf margin then creates a larger transverse fold from the leaf tip downwards
