Wingspan: 30-40mm. Distinctive broad, rounded forewing.

Flight time: June-August
Habitat: Coniferous and old, deciduous woodlands

Larvae usually feed on conifers, including Yew (Taxus baccata) and Spruce (Picea spp.) but also Birch, Oak, Blackthorn and Bilberry.
