Widespread, common
Wingspan: 28-35mm. Two forms, central cross-band entire or broken.

Flight time: Two broods, June-August
Habitat: Woods, hedges, gardens, marshes, rough ground

Larvae feed mainly on Nettles, also other herbaceous plants including Lesser Burdock, Spear Thistle, Marjoram and Dead-nettles
