Wingspan: 31-38mm. Markings are variable, +/- grey hindwing

Flight time: July-August
Habitat: Grassland, woodland rides, gardens

Larvae feed on grasses, also on Wood-rush and Common Reed

Similar: Common Wainscot, hindwing usually whitish
